My new piece GameFonie for 13 percussionists was performed live for the first time Tuesday, the 28th of February 2017 in the George Enescu concert hall of the National University of Music in Bucharest, at 19.00. The wonderful musicians who performed are part of the Game percussion ensemble of the National University of Music from Bucharest, directed by Professor Alexandru Matei and Sorin Rotaru.
This new piece, part of my PhD. research, uses extensively influences from Gamelan music and it also incorporates various Indonesian instruments such as gongs, cymbals, drums and bamboo flutes.
I would like to thank the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest for lending us the biggest gongs that are part of the Javanese Gamelan at the Embassies premises, so that we can play them for this concert!
